Artificial Intelligence is something we need to accept, said Piyush Goyal, commerce and industry minister, at the launch of AI/ML search portal on trademarks on September 18.
Goyal while announcing the platform emphasised the need for AI to improve work outcomes.
“AI is something we all have to accept. We need to become students again. This is an existential tool. The faster we adopt it to improve the outcome of our work, the better we will do,” Goyal noted.
The new platform makes India one of the few countries besides the US, EU, Norway to have such a platform.
India is one of the third largest patent filers in the world.
“We will be able to clear out trademark applications, faster, efficiently with AI/ML trademark platform,” Goyal noted.
Of the 1.26 lakh patents filed with the office, 80 percent were cleared.
Goyal also noted that the trademark office was looking for new premises in Delhi and also looking to expand the workforce by 500-600 heads.
“We want to match the best in the world. India’s solutions will become global benchmarks,” the minister noted.
The minister also announced the launch of generative AI portal, IP Saarthi, to help process queries and make the process faster and more efficient.
