Reliance Power's third quarter profit is likely to increase 36 percent year-on-year to Rs 345 crore and revenue to jump 53 percent to Rs 2,657 crore, according to average of estimates of analysts polled by CNBC-TV18. Earnings will be announced on January 19.
Operating profit (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) may grow 94 percent to Rs 1,220 crore and margin expanded by 964 basis points to 45.9 percent compared to year-ago period.
Year-on-year numbers are not fully comparable as Sasan facility got fully commissioned in FY16. Revenue on sequential basis may decline 4 percent on account of lower generation at Rosa plant. Bottomline and operating profit are likely to be flat at Rs 345 crore and Rs 1,220 crore on sequential basis but margin may improve 170 basis points.
Analysts expect generation of 10.5 billion units during the quarter against 11 billion units in preceding quarter. They expect plant load factor at more than 95 percent for Sasan facility, around 50 percent for Rosa unit (against 83 percent Q-o-Q) and 77 percent for Butibori plant (against 71 percent Q-o-Q) in Q3.
Depreciation and interest expenses are expected to see sharp year-on-year jump on account of additional expenses for Sasan project.
