Media major Star India has completed the integration of business with Telugu broadcaster Maa Television Network. The integration would help it to offer an enhanced content bouquet to audiences across the southern markets in general and Telugu speaking viewers, Star India said in a statement today. Maa operates four channels - Maa, Maa Music, Maa Movies and Maa Gold.

In February, Star India had announced the acquisition of these channels. It also opens up an opportunity for major content innovation in the Telugu television market, which is the second largest regional market in India in terms of revenue potential, it added further. "The acquisition fills a critical gap in our portfolio and will allow our advertisers targeted access to the large Telugu speaking population. We plan to invest further in this important market to fundamentally change the content quality paradigm," Star India CEO Uday Shankar said. Maa TV group was owned by industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad, Rajya Sabha member Chiranjeevi and actor Nagarjuna. Star India is a leading broadcaster in India with over 40 channels in eight different languages.
