Six rounds of spectrum auction bidding was completed on Tuesday, with over 83 percent of spectrum being provisionally allocated so far.

The government has allocated spectrum to bidders of approximately Rs 92,200 crore till now, with majority of service areas going at a premium to reserve price.

The auctions saw aggressive bidding by mobile phone operators including Bharti Airtel Ltd and Idea Cellular Ltd for mobile airwaves, betting on a surge in data usage.

Considering the fact that bidding is taking place in all spectrum bands, there is activity seen in new service areas in 1800 MHz band. There has been a shift in activity from 2100 and 900 MHz bands to 1800 and 800 MHz bands.
