January Index of Industrial Production (IIP) was strong at 7.5 percent and capital goods showed a sharp increase by 14.6 percent. In an interview to CNBC-TV18, MS Unnikrishnan, MD of Thermax gave a check of the ground realities.

Unnikrishnan said that the recovery is visible when I look at the entire sector. The order inflow has seen an improvement in the last one quarter.

He further said that positive sentiment prevails and things are looking better.

According to him, consumer-facing sector, durables and industrial sectors are performing well.

Fertiliser and cement sectors are seeing positive momentum. Tyre makers, carbon black manufacturers are expanding capacities, he added.

"I do not expect revival in power space over next 2 years", said Unnikrishnan.

Global cues can improve the industry outlook further, he said.
