Apple India has expanded its manufacturing footprint across the country with facilities in 8 states and over 40 suppliers, including several micro, small and medium enterprises, a report by the Business Standard said on December 2.
The first two factories of the iPhone maker were established in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Apple is connecting all the suppliers across the country into its global supply chain, the paper said. Firms are establishing operations in Gujarat, Kerala, Haryana, Telangana, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, the report said citing people aware of the development.
The Cupertino-based tech giant has three categories of suppliers. This includes suppliers providing components and subassemblies to the Apple factories operated by Foxconn and Tata Electronics, suppliers for global supply chain and makers of components for equipment used in iPhone’s new production lines in India, the paper said.
Recently, Apple added a new list of suppliers in the country in the last few months, including Hindalco in Gujarat, Wipro PARI, Bharat Forge, Jabil in Maharashtra, SFO Technologies in Kerala and VVDN Technologies in Haryana, BS said.
