In a recent report released by Fitch, the ratings agency says that though the Indian banking sector looks stable, the sector will face downside pressure due to weakening asset quality. In an exclusive interview to CNBC-TV18, the author of that report and senior director Ananda Bhoumik sad that bad assets of banks could increase to 3.5-3.7% of their total asset books by this time next year.
