India's Petronet LNG is likely to buy four spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes in January-March quarter, its CEO and managing director AK Balyan said on Tuesday.

Balyan also said Petronet LNG was in talks with Australia and Qatar for long-term LNG supply contracts.

For the quarter ended December, Petronet LNG had bought four spot cargoes, he added.

Petronet, which operates a 10-mn-tonnes-a-year LNG regasification plant at Dahej in western Gujarat state, sells LNG to state run firms Indian Oil Corp. (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corp (BPCL) and GAIL (India) Ltd, which then supply industrial users.
