Attorney General Ghoolam Vahanvati today confirmed that the last paragraph of the 2G licence press note was deleted. Appearing before the 2G trial court as a prosecution witness, Vahanvati said that he was not concerned with the contents of the 2G file.

Vahanvati said that he was only required to vet the press note which was used to issue 2G licences. Ghoolam Vahanvati was the then Solicitor General.

Vahanvati's testimony comes after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alleged that the amended draft of the press release regarding issuance of letters of intents (LoIs) to telecom firms, had the consent of Vahanvati. Former Telecom Minister A Raja and former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura are accused in the 2G scam case.
