Axis Bank’s Arjun Chowdhry on July 18 resigned from Group Executive – Affluent Banking, Cards, Payments and Retail Lending position citing reason to pursue entrepreneurial path outside the bank, according to an exchange filing by the private lender.

According to the release, Chowdhry will be relieved from the services of the Bank at the close of business on August 31, 2025.

“After much reflection, I’ve decided to pursue an entrepreneurial path outside the bank,” Chowdhry said in his resignation letter.

Separately, the bank has elevated Neeraj Gambhir as Executive Director for a period of three years, effective August 4 or post Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) approval, whichever is later.

The appointment is subject to approval of the shareholders of the bank and the RBI, release said.

Currently, Gambhir is Group Executive – Treasury, Markets and Wholesale banking products at Axis Bank since May 2020, release said.

During the Q1FY26 post earnings media call, Axis Bank’s managing director and chief executive officer Amitabh Chaudhry hinted that the new ED would be finalised soon.

“We expect the new ED appointment to happen as Rajiv Anand retires,” Chaudhry said.
