Yash Raj Films’ highly anticipated action spectacle War 2 is already creating waves at the box office before its release. The film, which brings together Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan and Telugu cinema’s powerhouse Jr NTR for the first time, has registered an impressive start in advance bookings.
According to trade website Sacnilk, War 2 has sold over 67,000 tickets across Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions for its opening day alone. The pre-release buzz has translated into a gross collection of around Rs 2.4 crore for Day 1, with the figure touching Rs 6.12 crore when including data from theatres with block seats. This early performance is particularly noteworthy, as advance bookings in many Telugu-speaking regions—where Jr NTR enjoys an enormous fan following—are yet to open fully.
Industry experts believe that once bookings commence in these regions, the numbers are set to skyrocket. Given Jr NTR’s recent pan-India success with RRR and Hrithik Roshan’s proven track record in action blockbusters, War 2 is being positioned as one of the biggest releases of the year.
The film marks the sixth instalment in YRF’s coveted spy universe, following hits like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and Pathaan. Directed with a focus on high-octane action and an engaging spy thriller narrative, War 2 is expected to take the franchise to a whole new level.
The promotional campaign kicked off in style on Sunday with a grand event in Hyderabad, where Jr NTR was greeted by a massive sea of fans. Videos from the event show thunderous cheers, banners, and celebratory fanfare, setting the tone for what promises to be a nationwide frenzy upon release.
Trade analysts predict that the film could open to one of the highest day-one collections of 2025, especially once South Indian bookings come into play. With two of India’s biggest stars joining forces, coupled with YRF’s production scale and the ever-expanding spy universe, War 2 has all the makings of a cinematic juggernaut.
