The Indian film industry mourns the passing of one of its cherished legends, Dharmendra, who died today at 89, leaving a lasting legacy that will inspire future generations.
The seasoned actor had been struggling with health issues related to aging and was hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital a week ago due to chest pain. He peacefully left this world earlier today, surrounded by family.
Only a few days prior, reports indicated that Dharmendra was put on ventilator assistance. In spite of the tireless attempts by the medical team, apparently, the legendary star could not be saved.
On 24 November 2025 morning, the Sholay star said his last goodbye, leaving the entertainment industry in deep sorrow. Members of the television community shared their grief, recalling the kindness and modesty he exhibited during his lifetime.
Dharmendra recently visited the sets of Laughter Chefs, India’s Best Dancer, and Bigg Boss, where he engaged with the cast and crew. Karan Kundrra, Arjun Bijlani, Jannat Zubair, and Rahul Vaidya—who had the privilege of interacting with the iconic actor—posted touching tributes and treasured pictures on social media, commemorating his legacy and the times they shared with him.
A lot of TV actors took to social media to mourn the loss.
Aly Goni stated: It feels like the nation has lost a part of its childhood today. Rest in peace, Dharmendra ji… your presence will always feel like home
Karan Kundrra who met him on Laughter Chefs 2 said: Qismat waala hoon ki aapke paer chooke aapka ashirwad le paaya iss janam mein!! Om shaanti DharamJi!! Legends don’t die!!
Arjun Bijlani elaborated, 'Dharmendra ji. Whenever I’ve met him, it truly became one of my best memories. To meet your childhood icon…someone who didn’t just play characters, but created iconic moments that became a part of our lives…it was special. It was magical. The kid in me was happy to see his childhood hero. Not just Sholay, but he gave us too many iconic & heroic roles over the years. Having a career of more than 300 films is not just iconic but legendary. It’s hard to believe he is no more. I feel lucky I got to meet him. Condolences to the family. Rest in peace, Dharmendra sir. Om Shanti.'
Ankita Lokhande mentioned, "Rest in peace, Dharmendra ji. Legends never truly leave us… your warmth, your charm and your iconic legacy will live on forever. Heartfelt condolences to the family and all his fans."
