Priyanka Chopra recalls Kaminey journey as the film turns 16, says 'I was just greedy to work'

Vishal Bhardwaj’s cult classic Kaminey completed 16 years on August 14, and actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas took the opportunity to look back at how the film came into her life. Known for its gritty storytelling and Shahid Kapoor’s stellar double role, the film marked a crucial turning point in Priyanka’s career, particularly through her portrayal of Sweety Bhope.

Taking to Instagram, Priyanka shared a series of stills from the film and reflected on her journey with the project.

Priyanka revealed that she was filming Dostana in Miami when director Vishal Bhardwaj first reached out to her. “Sweety Bhope, I was filming for Dostana in Miami, Florida with @tarun_mansukhani directing and @bachchan and @thejohnabraham starring. One cool evening after we wrapped shoot , I saw a missed call from Vishal Bhardwaj. What?? I had wanted to work with him forever and never thought he would cast me because of my “commercial“ image at the time.” she wrote.

Vishal personally flew to Miami to narrate the story. Initially, Priyanka was hesitant, pointing out that her role had only about eight scenes. Priyanka added "He said he’d like to come see me, and he did. To Miami. I remember him telling me the story and I said, “Well, she has approximately 8 scenes.” And he said, “With us working on it, it will end up being so much more. Trust me.” And I did.He promised he would make something incredible for me after this in appreciation for doing the part. But honestly, I was just greedy to work with him. A few years later, we did 7 Khoon Maaf.”
