Mahira Khan responds to pregnancy rumours, says she has put on weight

Such is the wont of female actors in patriarchal societies that many a line is crossed and they are often courted with speculations about their private lives and choices. Sometime back, a viral now-deleted Reddit post had made claims of Pakistani actor Mahira Khan being in her first trimester and that Khan, following her marriage to businessman Salim Karim, might be expecting her second child in August or September. Mahira Khan has rubbished these rumours about her pregnancy which, she says, started because she has ‘put on weight’ and the aforementioned post also stated that Khan has stepped away from Netflix series Jo Bachey Sang Samait Lo and another yet-to-be-titled film. ‘It’s not true,’ says Khan, who is very much in the Netflix series.

Mahira Khan was seen in a number of Pakistani movies and shows, including Bol, Bin Roye, Manto, Fawad Khan-starrer Maula Jatt, among others, and starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees in 2017. Among her most successful shows was Humsafar, also featuring Fawad Khan.

Mahira Khan, recently, spoke about the “weirdest rumour” in the media she’s heard about herself. To which the actor said, “Oh, that I'm pregnant. It's not weird it's just a rumour. I don't know where they came up with it. I think it's because I've put on weight, but then they also said that I've also left a Netflix series and a major film and whatnot. But it's not true.”

Mahira met Salim Karim, the CEO of Pakistani telecom company Simpaisa, in 2017, got engaged in 2019 in Turkey and married  in October 2023 in Bhurban, Pakistan. This is Mahira's second marriage. She had earlier married Ali Askari in 2007 and separated in 2015.
