Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has again made headlines with her provocative comments.
In an interview with Hauterrfly, the actress lashed out at dating apps and their users. She contended that looking for a partner on these apps is a "low" thing to do.
Emphasising that she has never felt the need to be on dating apps, Kangana referred to them as the "true gutter of society.”
Kangana said, “Everybody has needs—financial, physical, or otherwise. Every woman and man has needs, but how do we address them? That is the question. Do we do it elegantly, or crudely, like har raat nikal jaana (going out every night) in search of someone? That is what dating has become now. It’s a horrible situation.”
The actress also asserted that the majority of normal people wouldn't want to be on dating apps. She maintained that such sites appeal to those who need approval and aren't confident. She further stated that she could not even imagine associating with individuals who use such sites.
Kangana, known for her appearances in Gangster, Queen, and Tanu Weds Manu, requested that people seek serious relationships in conventional areas like workplaces, universities, or even through family-arranged marriages.
Kangana added, “You won’t find people like me on dating apps. You will only find losers who have not achieved anything in their lives. If you haven’t been able to meet anyone in the office, through your parents or relatives, and you’ve ended up on a dating app, imagine what sort of character you are.”
Speaking about live-in relationships, she contended that such arrangements are not supportive or healthy for women. Complaining about their rising popularity, she supported marriage, asserting that it is an assurance of a man's fidelity to his wife.
She noted, “Who’s going to help you get an abortion? If you get pregnant tomorrow during a live-in relationship, who is going to take care of you? Men are hunters who can impregnate any woman and run away.”
