Vijay Devarakonda, Rana Daggubati have been booked for promoting betting apps

FIR has been filed against 25 celebrities, including Rana Daggubati and Vijay Devarakonda, for promoting illegal betting apps.

The Miyapur police, Hyderabad has registered a case against several Tollywood actors and social media influencers for allegedly promoting online betting.

Besides Rana Daggubati and Vijay Devarakonda, the other names include Prakash Raj, Manchu Lakshmi, Praneetha, Nidhi Agarwal and 19 social media influencers.

The influencers who have been booked are Ananya, Sreemukhi, Siri Hanumanthu, Shyamala, Varshini, Shobha, Neha, Pandu, Padmavathi, Imran Khan, Vishnu Priya, Harsha Sai, Sunny Yadav, Tasty Teja and Ritu.

Sections 318(4), 112 r/w 49 BNS, 3, 3(A), 4 TSGA, and 66 D ITA-2000 have been cited by the police.

The complainant has claimed that these renowned actors and social media influencers are intentionally pushing betting apps. The complaint further says that they are corrupting the minds of young people, which is leading to financial difficulties by many households
