Farah Khan's directorial Tees Maar Khan was a huge disaster at the box office. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles and received backlash for their performances and storylines when it was released back in 2010.
The filmmaker has recently reflected on the setback and recalled the backlash she had faced after the film flopped.
During the recent episode of Farah Khan's cooking vlog, featuring Jackky Bhagnani and Rakul Preet Singh, Farah revealed that people in Bollywood often get happy about others' failures.
The filmmaker recalled how there was a celebration in the film industry when her film flopped. Farah said, “In our industry, more than being happy for your success, people are happy for other people's failure.”
The filmmaker added, “I remember during Tees Maar Khan release, there was literally a celebration in the film industry. People who I have worked with were like, 'Abhi aayi na line par'.”
She elaborated, “Tees Maar Khan is a legend among the GenZ, they don't care about my other films. Karenge, banayenge, aur badi banayenge."
Directed by Farah Khan, Tees Maar Khan is a high-energy comedy that created a lot of excitement with its trailers and seemed very promising at first. However, it did not meet audience expectations and did not do well at the box office. Still, the song Sheila Ki Jawaani, with Katrina’s bold dance moves, got a lot of praise and became a major highlight.
The film follows a con artist who decides to rob a train carrying precious treasure by pretending to be a famous movie producer and enlisting the help of a village in his heist.
