Alia Bhatt, one of Bollywood's most beloved actresses, recently found herself at the center of controversy regarding allegations about her appearance. Following claims that she underwent Botox procedures, resulting in facial paralysis and a crooked smile, Alia took to social media lashing out at such reports.
The situation escalated when Dr. Sai Ganapathy, a medical expert, publicly discussed Alia’s alleged complications from cosmetic procedures.
Dr. Sai Ganapathy's remarks suggested that Alia's facial asymmetry was due to Botox migration, which he claimed can occur during aesthetic procedures. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, he stated, “It’s her personal opinion, I wouldn’t like to comment on that. I’d rather talk medically.”
He went on to explain that while he didn’t intend to target Alia specifically, complications from cosmetic treatments can happen to anyone. “It can happen to anybody, even some of my patients can face it. These kinds of complications do occur with aesthetic procedures and it’s nothing to worry about. It’s completely reversible.”
The doctor elaborated on his observations, noting how Alia’s speaking style seemed affected, leading him to conclude that her procedure was not successful.
He expressed, “After seeing her videos, I realised that when she must have got the botox done, something might have gone wrong. And it’s not a major but a minute complication, which can occur with any injector.” Dr. Sai Ganapathy detailed that sometimes Botox can migrate towards the risorius muscles, which affects lip movement.
He stated, “Thus, sometimes there is a dip movement when she speaks, the lips will be tilted as seen in the video, which I also saw in many videos that people had put up. So, that was the concern.”
In response to these allegations, Alia Bhatt used her Instagram platform to directly address the trolls. She emphasized her disdain for the spreading of misinformation about her body and appearance, asserting, “Absolutely NO JUDGEMENT towards anyone who chooses cosmetic corrections or surgery—your body, your choice. But wow, this is beyond ridiculous!” Alia expressed frustration over claims that she had undergone a “Botox gone wrong” and the derogatory descriptions of her “crooked smile” and “weird way of speaking.”
Alia’s response highlighted the harsh reality of celebrity life, particularly the scrutiny faced by women in the public eye.
She pointed out that her experiences have included invasive judgments, even about her pregnancy. “This is your hypercritical, microscopic judgment of a human face. And now you're confidently tossing around 'scientific' explanations, claiming I'm paralysed on one side? Are you kidding me? These are SERIOUS claims being casually thrown out there with zero proof, no confirmation, and absolutely nothing to back it up,” she remarked, clearly distressed by the unwarranted speculation about her health.
