  • Battle Of Galwan's April 2026 release may be postponed due to ongoing reshoots
  • Approval from the Ministry of Defence could further delay the film's release
  • No official new release date announced yet for Salman Khan's war drama

Salman Khan’s highly anticipated war drama Battle Of Galwan might miss its originally planned April 17, 2026 theatrical release, according to industry reports. Sources tell Bollywood Hungama that while the film was scheduled for mid-April, shooting and reshoots are still underway, pushing the production timeline back and making it difficult to meet the current deadline.

The project — directed by Apoorva Lakhia and starring Salman Khan as Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu — is based on the true-story 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops, a dramatic military encounter during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the latest scoop, a one-week reshoot schedule was set to begin on February 9 at the Golden Tobacco Factory in Mumbai, with additional scenes intended to be filmed before wrapping up principal photography by the end of the month. Once this phase finishes, the team will move into editing the new material — a process that could extend past the mid-April release window.

Another potential delay factor is the required screening for the Ministry of Defence, which the makers say might also take extra time before the final cut can be locked. With these commitments, sources suggest that the chances of retaining the April 17 date are “remote,” although no final decision has been officially announced yet.

Despite the uncertainty around its release, the makers are being careful not to rush the project. Salman — known for his blockbuster hits — reportedly feels that a film rooted in patriotic themes and real events deserves careful crafting to do justice to its subject matter and resonate strongly with audiences.
