Ozzy Osbourne dies weeks after his farewell performance

Ozzy Osbourne, the lead singer of popular band Black Sabbath, passed away on Tuesday, July 22. He was 76.

His family confirmed his death reports on Instagram. Sharing his photo from the stage, they penned in the caption, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”

The statement continued, “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”

However, Ozzy Osbourne’s family didn’t mention the reason behind his death. He revealed in 2020 that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2003, a nervous system disorder that affects movement.

He performed from a throne at the Black Sabbath farewell concert on July 5 in his hometown, Birmingham, England. It was his final concert and his first in 20 years with the band that made him a star.

Tributes started pouring on social media soon after the family revealed the news about his death.

Singer and songwriter Elton John took to his Instagram and shared a throwback picture with Ozzy and paid a tribute to him. He wrote, “So sad to hear the news of @ozzyosbourne passing away. He was a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods - a true legend.”
