Siddharth Anand’s much-anticipated film King, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and reportedly Suhana Khan in lead roles, has reportedly added another major name to its cast.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Anil Kapoor is set to join the ensemble, taking on the pivotal role of Shah Rukh Khan’s mentor. With Khan playing the part of an assassin, Kapoor is expected to portray his handler—bringing a layered dynamic to the storyline.'
The source said, "There were multiple actors considered for the part, but the team amicably feels that Anil Kapoor suits the role to the T. Anil is also excited to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan on this mega-budget actioner."
Filming for the movie is set to start on June 20 and will take place in a number of European locations. However, the continuous cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan may cause production to be delayed.
According to a second source, Shah Rukh Khan plays a real, grounded character in the movie, which is geared towards contemporary theatregoers. It is anticipated that the action scenes will balance intense realism with a high-octane style.
The film will also feature Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma in prominent roles and Deepika Padukone in a special cameo. Music duo Sachin-Jigar will helm the soundtrack, while Anirudh Ravichander will handle the background score. King is slated for a theatrical release in 2026.
Shah Rukh Khan was last seen Jawan in 2023 alongside Deepika Padukone and Nayanthara. Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor worked with Siddharth Anand in Fighter prior to their latest project.
