Ajay Devgn recently addressed why he couldn’t avoid a box office clash between his latest movie, Singham Again, and Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, both of which released on November 1. In a candid conversation, Ajay explained the industry’s challenges when two major releases coincide, and how he and his team had made efforts to avoid the clash but ultimately couldn’t.
“We all tried to avoid that clash on Diwali, but it didn’t happen,” Ajay stated in an interview. The Singham star mentioned his aversion to box office conflicts, as they can hurt both films’ prospects. However, due to the film’s Diwali-themed storyline, pushing Singham Again to a later date wasn’t feasible. He explained, “Given the theme of Singham Again, we couldn’t have given up on this date for release.”
Despite the clash, Ajay noted that both films are performing well and are finding audiences, which he sees as a positive outcome in a challenging scenario. The industry, he says, ultimately suffers when films clash, but he expressed relief that, in this instance, both movies are thriving. “Both the films are doing well, so it is all good,” he shared.

Director Rohit Shetty, also present during the interview, offered his take on the situation, sharing his happiness over the audiences’ positive response to both films. He added that although they attempted to prevent the overlap, the Diwali theme for Singham Again made it difficult to release it at another time. “We tried to avoid the clash (with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3), but the only issue was that we had the theme of Diwali; otherwise, we could have released the film anytime,” Rohit said.
Ajay and Rohit highlighted the remarkable success of both movies, noting how unusual it is for two films to achieve a combined revenue of over Rs 300 crore within a week of release. Singham Again has already broken records for the franchise, earning around Rs 250 crore worldwide and Rs 160 crore domestically within the first week.
Featuring a star-studded cast, Singham Again has generated buzz not just for Ajay’s portrayal but also for performances by Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, with Arjun Kapoor as the villain. Ajay will soon appear in other high-profile films, including Naam and Azaad, with an exciting lineup of sequels and collaborations ahead.
