Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said the obsession of Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar for their respective children is the reason behind the breakup of their parties.
“The BJP has nothing to do with this .If Sharad Pawar had made Ajit Pawar his successor, would the party have broken and if Uddhav ji had given importance to Eknath Sinde instead of his son, would the party have broken? This is because of love for Uddhav ji's son and because of love for Sharad Pawar ji's daughter, their own parties have broken they are making unnecessary allegations against us. They want such a system like Rajashahi where only the son or daughter becomes the successor after the father. There is democracy in the country and many people do not accept it so they are separating...",” Shah told ANI.
During the interview, the minister said these parties still promote dynastic politics in a democracy. “They ensure that after the father, only the son/ daughter becomes his successor. Whoever does not accept this ideology parts ways,” said Shah.
On Sharad Pawar wanting regional parties to merge with the Congress, Shah said it meant that the NCPSP chief accepted “that his daughter Supriya Sule cannot run the party”. “Why would one want to dismantle one’s own party and strengthen the Congress. He or she will only want it when they cannot run the party properly,” he said.
Shah questioned that if Pawar’s only aim was to strengthen the Congress, why was he waiting for so many years.
Pawar had declared MP Supriya Sule as their candidate from Maharashtra's Baramati Lok Sabha seat.
