Ahead of the Lok Sabha election result counting day, all senior leaders of the opposition bloc INDIA have reportedly been called by Congress to stay in Delhi till June 4 night or the morning after.
"West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also taken a positive stand on this. A meeting will be held after the election results," an ANI report quoted a Congress source as saying.
"If the number of seats does not come as per expectations and assessment, then other options including demonstration or press conference or meeting with the President will be discussed where questions can be raised on the role of the Election Commission," the source added further.
The counting of votes of the seven-phased 2024 general election is set to take place on June 4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is eyeing a third straight term in power this time while INDIA bloc leaders hope they will be able to end the winning streak through their unity.
Exit polls on June 1 predicted that PM Modi will retain power for a third straight term, with the BJP-led NDA expected to win a big majority in the Lok Sabha polls.
The News18 Mega Exit Poll has predicted 305-315 Lok Sabha seats for the BJP and between 355 to 370 overall for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). As per the survey, the Congress may get only about 62-72 seats while its INDIA bloc could end up with a tally of 125-140.
