Karnataka Exit Poll 2024 Highlights: News18 Exit Poll predicts NDA to win 23-26 seats, while INDIA Bloc to secure 3-7 seats

The voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha Election concluded on 1 June, 2024. Various news organisations released their Exit Poll predictions for all the states.

In Karnataka, the Lok Sabha Election Exit Poll Results, as predicted by News18, show a huge victory for the BJP led NDA alliance with 23-26 seats, while INDIA Bloc is likely to secure 3-7 seats.

On the national scale, News18 predicted that out of 543 Lok Sabha seats, NDA is likely to secure 355-370 seats, INDIA is projected to win 125-140 seats, and other parties are predicted to win 42-52 seats in the Indian Lok Sabha Election 2024.

According to News18, in Bangalore, NDA will likely secure 3-4 seats and INDIA will likely win 1-2 seats, in Northern Karnataka, NDA and INDIA will likely secure 10-11 seats and 0-1 seats, respectively, in Coastal Karnataka, NDA will likely win 2-3 seats while INDIA will get 0-1 seats, and in Southern Karnataka, NDA will reportedly receive 6-8 seats and INDIA is likely to win 1-3 seats.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar had a defamation case filed against them by the Bharatiya Janata Party for allegedly putting out false advertisements against their leaders. The CM and his deputy went to the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate today and were granted bail.

The Karnataka Lok Sabha Election voting for the constituency of Bangalore South took place on 26 April. The candidates in this constituency include Tejasvi Surya (BJP), Sowmya Reddy (INC), Arun Prasad (BSP), Balakrishna (UPP) and Raghupathi Bhat (KRS). Tejasvi Surya of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the 2019 General Elections from the Bangalore South Constituency.

The exit poll predictions for the Mysore constituency in Karnataka Lok Sabha Election will see an intense competition between INDIA bloc and NDA candidates. Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar is the candidate from BJP. His candidature is a shift from Pratap Simha who has represented the constituency since 2014. In 2019, Prathap Simha from BJP emerged victorious defeating C H Vijayashankar from INC.

The exit polls for the 2019 Karnataka Lok Sabha elections predicted a success for the Bharatiya Janata Party which secured 25 seats in the election. The exit polls also predicted that the other parties will do well however in the actual results the Congress Party only secured 1 seat, and Janata Dal (Secular) and an Independent candidate each won 1 seat.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday stated that Congress will easily secure the majority in the centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

“Today people are voting to teach a lesson to those who have increased inflation, poverty, and unemployment. We will bring 300 plus (seats). Everyone knows about exit polls under which everything is shown in a one-sided manner. It won’t be effective this time. There will be surprising results in Bihar. There will be so many seats that BJP will not be able to form a government at the Centre,” he said.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar expressed skepticism about exit polls, predicting that Congress will secure more than ten seats in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, without specifying exact numbers.

Party leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, have been asserting that Congress will win 15-20 out of 28 seats in Karnataka.

"I have no faith in exit polls. Someone called me saying that channels are showing we will get only two or three or four seats. We will get more than double digits, wait and see," Shivakumar told reporters.

He added, "Exit polls don't go into the interiors and are based on limited sample sizes, so I don't believe in them. The INDIA bloc is ready to take over the mantles." Early exit polls had predicted a comfortable majority for the BJP-led NDA, including a strong showing in Karnataka.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the ruling Congress-JD(S) alliance won only one seat each, while the BJP won 25 out of 28 seats in Karnataka and supported an independent candidate in Mandya.

News18 is predicting an overwhelming majority for BJP in the Lok Sabha Election 2024. There are a total of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha and BJP is projected to secure 305-315 seats, NDA is likely to secure 355-370 seats, INC is likely to win 62-72 seats, while INDIA is predicted to win 125-140 seats, and other parties are projected to win 42-52 seats.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in confidence that Indian citizens have reelected the NDA Government.

“I can say with confidence that the people of India have voted in record numbers to reelect the NDA government. They have seen our track record and the manner in which our work has brought about a qualitative change in the lives of the poor, marginalised and downtrodden.

At the same time, they have seen how the reforms in India have propelled India to being the fifth largest global economy. Every scheme of ours has reached the intended beneficiaries without any bias or leakage,” he wrote on X.

On exit polls, BJP candidate from Bengaluru South, Tejasvi Surya says, "Most of the exit polls are indicating a massive overwhelming majority for the BJP-led NDA. Despite being in power for 10 years, PM Narendra Modi's popularity is unfaded and only increasing... For a political party to be in power for 10 consecutive years and for a Prime Minister to get elected with a much bigger mandate is a huge indication of the kind of faith and kind of trust he has earned from a billion Indians..." Acquiring a majority of seats in Karnataka is crucial for the Bharatiya Janata Party since it is the only state that the political party has held power before. In 2019, BJP secured 25 seats out of 28. Most of the Exit Poll Predictions are showing a landslide victory for BJP.
