The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will close the online application process for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2026 tomorrow, October 20, 2025. Students seeking admission to various Master's programs for the 2026-27 academic year must complete their registration on the official website, jam2026.iitb.ac.in, before the deadline.

IIT JAM is a national-level entrance exam that serves as a gateway for admission to MSc, MSc (Tech), Joint MSc-PhD, and other integrated Master's programs at IITs and other participating technical institutions. With the application deadline looming, this is the last opportunity for eligible candidates to secure their chance.

Exam Pattern and Participating Programs

IIT JAM 2026 will be conducted on February 15, 2026, as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) across two shifts on the same day.

First Shift: Will include papers for Mathematics (MA), Chemistry (CY), and Geology (GG).

Second Shift: Will include papers for Biotechnology (BT), Economics (EN), Physics (PH), and Mathematical Statistics (MS).

Successful candidates in JAM 2026 can apply for a wide range of postgraduate courses, including:

  • MSc
  • MSc (Tech)
  • MSc (Research)
  • MSc-MTech Dual Degree
  • Joint MSc-PhD
  • MSc-PhD Dual Degree

IIT Bombay is the organizing institute for JAM 2026 and will facilitate the admission process for all participating institutions. Admission will be based strictly on the All India Rank (AIR) secured in the examination. The final seat allocation will follow the reservation policy of the Government of India.

How to apply for IIT JAM 2026?

Candidates can follow these simple steps to complete their application before the deadline:

Step 1. Go to the JAM 2026 portal at jam2026.iitb.ac.in.

Step 2. Click on the "New Registration" link. Enter your basic details like name, mobile number, and email address to generate your Enrolment ID and Password.

Step 3. Log in using your credentials and carefully fill out the detailed application form. This includes personal details, academic qualifications, and address information.

Step 4: Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable) in the specified format and size.

Step 5: Choose the test paper(s) you wish to appear for, such as Mathematics (MA), Physics (PH), Chemistry (CY), Biotechnology (BT), etc.

Step 6: Proceed to pay the non-refundable application fee online using credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI. The fee varies based on category and gender.

Step 7: Double-check all the entered information for accuracy. Once confirmed, submit the final application form.

Step 8: After successful submission and fee payment, download and print the application confirmation page for your future records.
