Punjab Police have opened a murder investigation after the body of social media personality Kamal Kaur was discovered inside a parked car near Adesh Medical University in Bathinda on Wednesday night.

Kaur, a Ludhiana resident with over 3.83 lakh Instagram followers, was known for her viral reels, some of which had sparked controversy. Police sources suggest she was likely killed elsewhere before her body was transported in a Ludhiana-registered car and left in the university’s parking area, TOI reported.

A foul smell drew the attention of locals, who alerted authorities. Senior Superintendent of Police (Bathinda) Amneet Kondal confirmed that a forensic team has been called in to assist with the case.

"Prima facie there seems something fishy, and an FIR under murder charges is being registered," Kondal said, quoted TOI.
