A 22-year-old cleric, Shoaib Khan, was apprehended in Alwar's Gothra Khurd village on Tuesday for allegedly engaging in sextortion and cyber fraud, according to the Times of India.
The arrest was carried out by the Dholagarh Devi police following revelations of fraudulent online transactions and possession of explicit videos on his mobile phone.
The TOI report further said that the investigations revealed that Khan, who teaches at a madrassa in Gothra village, allegedly lured Bangladeshi victims into his scheme. Dholagarh Devi police SHO Sanjay Kumar Sharma told the Times of India that authorities acted on a tip-off about a local resident involved in sextortion and cyber fraud through mobile communications.
Police seized Khan's mobile, which contained nude videos of victims, screenshots of girls, and evidence of financial transactions made via the BKASH app.
During questioning, Khan reportedly admitted to recording explicit videos of multiple girls and extorting money by threatening to release the content on social media or share it with their families, as reported by the Times of India.
