The Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate rationalisation has resulted in a significant price drop for the Skoda Kylaq compact SUV. It now starts below Rs 8,00,000 (ex-showroom), with the price of its lower variants overlapping that of certain variants of the Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire compact sedan.
The Kylaq is now priced between Rs 7,54,651 and Rs 12,79,705 (ex-showroom). Earlier, the price range was from Rs 8,25,000 to Rs 13,99,000 (ex-showroom). The price revision due to the GST cut has been from Rs 70,349 to Rs 1,19,295.

For reference, the Swift is priced between Rs 5,93,659 and Rs 8,68,535 (ex-showroom), and the Dzire between Rs 6,25,674 and Rs 9,32,109 (ex-showroom) in the GST 2.0 regime.
The Kylaq runs on a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that gives you 115bhp of power and 178Nm of torque. You can pick either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, depending on your preference.
It goes up against cars like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Hyundai Venue. And the best part? It's the most affordable Skoda you can buy in India right now.
Feature-wise, the Kylaq is pretty loaded. You get LED projector headlights, LED fog lamps with a cornering function, stylish 17-inch alloys, front seats that can be adjusted electrically in six ways and even have ventilation, a big 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, touch-based climate control, a cooled glovebox and an electric sunroof.
When it comes to safety, the Kylaq packs in more than 25 features as standard, including six airbags, traction and stability control, ABS with EBD, rollover protection, brake disc wiping, electronic differential lock, multi-collision braking, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
