Lucknow, Jan 6 (PTI) Over Rs 2.65 crore cash, 18 kg of silver, pistols and live cartridges were recovered from different parts of the state during a drive to check vehicles in view of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, police said today. While Rs 1.37 crore and 10 kg silver, six pistols and live cartridges were recovered from different places in Barabanki district yesterday, Rs 43 lakh was recovered from separate places in GB Nagar today, they said. Rs 26 lakh cash and 6 kg silver were recovered in Varanasi, Rs six lakh in Bulandshahr, Rs 25 lakh in Gonda and Rs 23.51 lakh in Balrampur, they said. The cash has been seized as those carrying it were not able to produce valid documents, they said adding that the Election Commission and Income Tax department have been informed. In view of the Assembly polls starting in February, the EC has imposed restrictions on movement of unaccounted cash of over Rs one lakh.
