Uttar Pradesh-based sugar company Balrampur Chini Mills turned profitable with net profit at Rs 60 crore in the third quarter of financial year 2012-13 as against net loss of Rs 64 crore in a year ago period, beating analysts' expectations.
Net sales jumped 43 percent - ahead of forecast - to Rs 950 crore from Rs 663.7 crore during the same period.
Analysts on an average were expecting net profit of Rs 32 crore on sales of Rs 860 crore for the October-December quarter
At 15:13 hours IST, shares went up 1.38 percent to Rs 44.10 amid hefty volumes on Bombay Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
Trading volumes increased quite significantly to 7,94,730 equity shares as against five day average of 1,36,890 shares.
