With investors lapping up NMDC offer, it is time to ponder on the money made through initial public offers in the preceding years. Digging through public offers since 2005, Moneycontrol discovered that investor gains have been unbelievable. Over 400 companies came out with IPOs since 2005 and gains have ranged anything between 100% to over 900%. Of course, many got adjusted along the way, but still returns were too good to be true. For ease of understanding, Moneycontrol has listed out only 13 IPOs (between 2005 and 2012) where gains have been mind-blowing.

Interestingly, if you had invested Rs 1000 in an IPO, say of Yes Bank, in July 2005, your gains today would be a staggering 917%.
