A right-size government is a good government, which equals good governance. This was the talking point of Think India Forum, keynote speech of which was delivered by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. He clarified that minimum government concept or 'less government is more governance' does not imply job cuts, but hints at efficiency and accountability.
Widely seen as Bhartiya Janata Party's Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi efficiently used the platform to highlight the issues ranging from common man's dilemma to governance issues. In a speech interspersed with anecdotes that showed "success of Gujarat," the BJP leader voiced his preference towards people's involvement in governance. Speaking at the Network 18-organized forum, Modi said Citizens need sense of ownership of public assets and hence there is a need to develop P4 or people public private partnership concept.
In a strange parallel drawn between The Almighty and government's management, the firebrand Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi said faith distinguishes one from the other. One knows The Almighty will deliver, but the same faith cannot be extracted for the government. He said the need for a government has evolved over the years, which is yet to see its final shape. To do that, governance laws must evolve with changing times.
