Social activist Medha Patkar today demanded that the Centre should repeal land acquisition amendment bill and enact a comprehensive legislation on development planning.

A dharna will be held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from August 3 to August 5 to protest forced displacement and land acquisitions across the country and press for demand for a comprehensive legislation on development planning, she told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of various action groups.

"The main issue today is of development planning process and concept of local self rule does not seem anywhere in the planning process. Several villages are facing fear of forced land acquisition," Patkar said.

She said Rahul Gandhi visited Bhatta Parsaul in Uttar Pradesh but the situation in Congress-rule state like Rajasthan was also no different from there.
