Ashoke Banerjee, pleader for the Bengal Government joins CNBC-TV18 for more perspective on the Singur case. The Calcutta High Court today upheld the Singur Act, giving Mamata Banerjee her victory in the land acquisition case against Tata Motors. This means that Tata Motors will need to return the acquired land back tot he government. The debate now is on the compensation to be paid to Tata Motors.

Can you clarify the process of compensation? A: Firstly, this is not only a question of acquisition because suppose the room belongs to me, neither can I acquire nor purchase, I can only take back. So by introducing the law, my government wanted to take back the land from Tata. Compensation, right from the beginning, they say that it is vague and not specifically mentioned in the procedure.
