Minor explosion in Pune, one child injured

A minor explosion took place at Laxmi Tara Complex in Dange Chowk of Pimpri Chinchwad in Pune on Friday afternoon in which one child has been injured. According to the police the explosion took place at 3.30 PM. Police official have ruled out a terror attack and say that the situation is under control.

A minor explosion took place at Laxmi Tara Complex in Dange Chowk of Pimpri Chinchwad in Pune on Friday afternoon in which one child has been injured. According to the police the explosion took place at 3.30 PM. Police official have ruled out a terror attack and say that the situation is under control.

The blast happened when the child spotted a packet and lifted it. Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune, SK Singhal said that they are investigating the explosion. "This is a small explosion and one small child is injured. We are trying to investigate. It is not clear how the blast occurred. It's of a low intensity. Citizens should not panic and call Pune Police Control Room."

Earlier, Pune was rocked by four low intensity explosions on August 1. The blast which took place at Balgandharva Theatre, Dena Bank branch, a McDonalds food outlet and Garware bridge between 7.37 and 8.15 pm had resulted injuries to two people.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil is in Pune to reassure the people from the Northeast, who have been leaving the city following some incidents of attacks on the community and threats of more attacks.
