Major fire at Bengaluru dumpyard, 10 fire engines at the spot

Hundreds of tonnes of garbage generated in the I-T city is dumped in Doddaballapur dumpyard every day.

A major fire broke out at one of the garbage mounds at the Terra Firma landfill in Doddaballapur under Bengaluru rural district on Wednesday.

It's been more than 16 hours but the fire has not been contained. 10 fire engines are battling to douse the fire.

There are no reports of injuries so far and the cause of fire is also unknown.

Hundreds of tonnes of garbage generated in the I-T city is dumped in Doddaballapur dumpyard every day.

The dumpyard is spread over 10 acres of land and it comprises of several mounds of mixed waste containing plastic and other material.
