US President Donald Trump is set to address the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, where he will criticize “globalist institutions” and highlight what the White House describes as “the renewal of American strength around the world.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday, "The president will also touch upon how globalist institutions have significantly decayed the world order, and he will articulate his straightforward and constructive vision for the world." Trump has repeatedly criticized the UN and other multilateral bodies as part of his "America First" policy, cutting funding or withdrawing from several UN agencies in the past.
Leavitt added that Trump will hold a “multilateral meeting” with leaders from key Muslim countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan. He is also scheduled for bilateral meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Argentinian President Javier Milei, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The speech marks Trump’s first address to the UN General Assembly in his second term and comes amid heightened global attention on Israel’s ongoing conflict in Gaza.
