Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely to meet US President Donald Trump next week, according to Moscow’s Deputy UN Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy. He added that, as of now, there are no confirmed plans for a meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“As far as I heard, there are a number of locations, but they agreed to something that they don’t want to disclose. The timeline is, I think, next week, but that’s again judging from what presidents said themselves," Polyanskiy told reporters.
He also addressed speculation about a possible meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stating that he was unaware of any such plan but did not rule it out.
"I haven't heard about any meeting planned with President Zelenskiy, but I am not in the loop," he added.
Meanwhile, there is no summit has taken place between US and Russian leaders since President Vladimir Putin met with then-President Joe Biden in Geneva back in June 2021.
Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, citing national security concerns, claims that Kyiv and Western nations dismiss as a pretext for an aggressive land grab.
Although President Trump had pledged to bring an end to the conflict, nearly seven months into his second term, that promise remains unfulfilled.
