More than 260 passengers of Virgin Atlantic's Wednesday flight from London to Mumbai remain stranded at remote Diyarbakir Airport (DIY) in Turkey for over 18 hours now.

Reports suggest that the flight was diverted due to a medical emergency, and developed a technical glitch during landing. An alternate aircraft is yet to be arranged for the 265 stranded passengers.

“Emergency landing was made as one passenger had a panic attack. The airport in Turkey is not efficient enough to handle the aircraft," one of the passengers told CNN News18.

Passengers urged the airline and relevant authorities to arrange alternative transportation as soon as possible. Sharing the ordeal, the passenger said, “We’ve not received accommodations and we can’t even leave the airport as this is a military base.”
