Iran's President arrives in Pakistan

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on Saturday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, The Express Tribune reported.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation including Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, senior ministers, and top officials Pezeshkian is set to hold meetings with key Pakistani leaders.

According to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Office, President Pezeshkian will meet with his counterpart, President Asif Ali Zardari, during the visit.

The Iranian delegation is also scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This visit marks Pezeshkian’s first official trip to Pakistan as Iran’s President.

The visit comes in the aftermath of the 12-day Iran-Israel conflict and the regional developments that followed.

During the recent four-day military escalation between India and Pakistan, Iran offered to mediate between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Also, Iran’s Foreign Minister visited both New Delhi and Islamabad. However, India and Pakistan agreed to a bilateral ceasefire after four days of escalated tensions.
