The Andhra Pradesh government is moving ahead with plans to establish a water aerodrome at the reservoir, located around 15 kilometres from the city. The initiative is being developed by the Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Limited (APADCL) under the Centre’s UDAN regional connectivity scheme. The project will improve last-mile air connectivity and attract more visitors, further strengthening Tirupati’s position as one of the country’s most visited pilgrimage and tourism hubs.

Seaplane services at Kalyani Dam will allow visitors to enjoy aerial views of the Tirumala Hills, Chandragiri Fort and the scenic surroundings, enhancing the overall appeal of the city. The aerodrome will also serve as a key link between spiritual tourism and adventure travel, creating a more diverse tourism circuit for the region.
