YouTube has introduced a new feature for creators, an AI-powered music-making tool. This new tool lets creators easily make custom background music for their videos, without needing to search through endless tracks or worry about copyright issues.
The update was shared on YouTube’s Creator Insider channel this week. It’s part of YouTube’s Creator Music marketplace, which was launched in 2023 to help creators find licensed music for their videos. Now, with this AI music tool, creators have another option — and this one’s free!
Here’s how it works: Creators who have access to Creator Music will now see a new tab called Music Assistant. Inside this, there’s a text box where you can type in the kind of music you’re looking for. You can mention the mood, instruments, or the type of video you’re making — like “happy acoustic tune for a travel vlog” or “dramatic orchestral background for a short film.” If you’re not sure what to write, YouTube also suggests some prompts to help you get started.
Once you enter your idea, the AI quickly generates some music tracks for you. You can then download them and use them in your videos without any copyright worries.
YouTube says this new feature is rolling out gradually, so only some creators will see it for now. The new feature will make it easier for creators to find or even create the perfect soundtrack for their content.
