Just a week after meeting Donald Trump in the Oval Office, some of the world’s top tech leaders joined him for a state dinner at Windsor Castle, hosted by King Charles III, according to a New York Times.
Trump sat in the middle of the long table, but the focus was on the guests around him, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Salesforce co-founder Marc Benioff, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis. There were also bankers, media executives, and politicians at the table.
Cook’s presence stood out. A few weeks ago, he had given Trump a piece of Corning glass set in 24-karat gold at the White House. The gift was meant to show Apple’s investment in the U.S. and to smooth over tensions after Trump criticized him for missing a Middle East trip last year.
Altman, the Open AI CEO, sat next to Britain’s Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch. Prime Minister Keir Starmer was also there, seated near financiers like Blackstone’s Stephen Schwarzman and Bank of America’s Brian Moynihan.
King Charles spoke warmly about the friendship between Britain and the US and even mentioned climate issues and support for Ukraine. Trump seemed happy with the praise, calling the evening “a singular privilege.”
