Telegram has pushed out a substantial update for its more than 1 billion users, introducing Live Stories, repeated scheduled messages and auctions for limited-edition Gifts, along with new interface enhancements across iOS and Android. It is one of the platform’s most creator-friendly releases yet, aimed at boosting livestreaming, engagement and personalisation.
The standout addition is Live Stories, which let users broadcast in real time directly through the Stories interface. These live videos appear at the top of the screen, with viewers able to send comments and reactions that briefly float on the stream, helping hosts highlight top interactions and keep engagement high. Creators can also earn Stars during a broadcast, with a live counter showing earnings as they come in.
Professional streamers aren’t left out either. Telegram now supports external tools such as OBS and XSplit via RTMP links, making it possible to livestream from multiple devices or more advanced setups. Each Live Story inherits the standard privacy settings, so users can choose whether their live broadcast goes out to everyone, select contacts, close friends or specific user groups.
Telegram is also expanding its automation tools with repeated scheduled messages. Users can now set reminders or messages to recur at intervals such as daily or twice a month, handy for managing tasks, routine check-ins or habit building.
A third big addition is auctions for limited-edition Gifts. Rather than releasing collectible Gifts in fixed batches, Telegram now uses a transparent auction system powered by Stars. Users bid in timed rounds, with the highest bidder receiving Gift #1, the second-highest Gift #2, and so on. Unsuccessful bids roll over to the next auction round, and any unused Stars are refunded once gifts are allocated. The auction section, found under Settings > Send a Gift, clearly displays typical winning bid ranges to help users plan.
Telegram has also polished the interface on both major platforms. On iOS, upgraded Liquid Glass elements refresh navigation bars, keyboards and sticker panels to match Apple’s current design language. Android users get an updated input bar and cleaner blur effects that make chats feel more modern and consistent.
