Apple’s next-generation iPad Pro is shaping up to be one of the most powerful tablets yet. According to recent leaks, the upcoming models will bring two major upgrades: Apple’s new M5 chip and a higher minimum of 12GB of RAM. The launch is expected to happen in October.
The buzz started last week when Russian YouTube channels Wylsacom and Romancev768 uploaded unboxing videos of the yet-to-be-announced 13-inch iPad Pro. These channels have a solid track record, they previously leaked the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip ahead of its official release. That’s why these new videos are being taken seriously.
In the clips, the iPad Pro is shown running on the M5 chip, with Geekbench 6 benchmark results backing its performance claims. The M5 chip reportedly delivers up to 12% faster multi-core CPU performance and as much as 36% better graphics performance compared to the current M4 chip. That means smoother multitasking and more power for creative apps, gaming, and pro-level work.
Another highlight is the RAM bump. The new iPad Pro models with 256GB of storage will now come with 12GB of RAM by default. That’s the same as Apple’s latest iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. For comparison, the current M4 iPad Pro offers only 8GB of RAM on the 256GB and 512GB variants, while the 1TB and 2TB models pack 16GB. This upgrade should make everyday performance more consistent across storage options.
On the design front, don’t expect big changes. Apple refreshed the iPad Pro last year with a thinner build and an OLED display, so this year’s models will likely look very similar. One small tweak spotted in the videos: the words “iPad Pro” no longer appear on the back.
As for rumored features, not everything seems to be making the cut. Earlier reports suggested the new iPad Pro might include two front cameras to make video calls easier in both portrait and landscape orientations. But the unboxing videos don’t show a second camera—only an ambient light sensor in the top bezel.
With October right around the corner, Apple fans won’t have to wait long to see these upgrades become official. If the leaks are accurate, the next-gen iPad Pro will be faster, more capable, and better equipped to handle professional tasks than ever before.
