This is the final content drop for 2025 and follows months of snapshots and previews shared with the community.
Release date
Minecraft 1.21.11 will become available globally on December 9, 2025. The update marks the conclusion of this year’s development cycle and brings several gameplay additions that were tested in earlier snapshot builds. Players across Java and Bedrock editions will receive the update on the same day, continuing Mojang’s unified rollout approach.
New features
The Mounts of Mayhem update focuses on rideable mobs and mounted combat. Players will encounter several new creatures, including the Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus, Camel Husks, Zombie Camel Husks, Zombie Horses and the Parched. Each mob has specific behaviour patterns and can be found across different biomes, offering new exploration and taming opportunities.
A major addition is the Spear weapon, designed for close-range jostling and high-speed combat. The update also brings the new Lunge enchantment, giving players extra mobility during mounted attacks. In addition, the Nautilus Armor and Netherite Horse Armor expand defence options for both players and their mounts.
Riding mechanics have been reworked to support faster travel and improved control during battles. Mojang has also teased hidden upside-down surprises and limited-time world events that will activate after the update rolls out.
