Popular superhero shooting game, Marvel Rivals, has garnered significant success since its release in December 2024. However, the game is still not available for Nintendo Switch users, as it was only made available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC users at launch. Thankfully, it doesn't look like that'll be the case forever, as the game’s developers now want to bring this shooting game to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Marvel Rivals could be ported for the Nintendo Switch 2: Key details
Speaking to IGN at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu mentioned that the game couldn’t be released on the original Nintendo Switch due to the handheld device not being able to provide ‘a great experience’ for gameplay. However, the upcoming Switch 2 is expected to offer greater performance than the predecessor, and therefore the developer team is open to bringing the game to this console.
Wu further stated, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. And whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we're open to that." While this is not a concrete confirmation that, with its fast mouse movements, it is a solid possibility for the future.
Nintendo promises to share more information about the Switch 2 at the upcoming Nintendo Direct conference on April 2, 2025. Moreover, considering that Nintendo filed a patent that demonstrated the Switch 2's Joy-Con controllers to have mouse-like functions, Marvel Rivals with its fast movements could potentially benefit from it.
