Instagram is turning 15, and it’s marking the milestone with a focus on creativity and creators. In a blog post, Instagram head Adam Mosseri shared how the platform is evolving to make it easier—and less intimidating—for users to take creative chances.
“One of the best parts of my job is hearing from creators,” Mosseri wrote. “Many talk about taking leaps of faith and pushing through self-doubt to share their ideas with the world.”
To support that journey, Instagram is rolling out new tools and programs designed to lower the pressure of posting and encourage experimentation.
One major update is the introduction of Trial Reels, which lets creators share content initially with non-followers. Instagram says this low-pressure option is already having an impact: 40% of creators who tried it posted more reels, and 80% of those saw an increase in reach.
Instagram is also testing a “quiet posting” feature, allowing users to share to their profile without immediately showing up in everyone’s feed—offering more control and less stress. Another coming feature: the ability to reorder posts on your grid, a long-requested update by creators.
On the video side, Instagram is investing more into its Edits app, with new AI-powered tools like Restyle, which helps users change the look and feel of videos with a tap.
There’s also a creative flair on the way—a new Stories and Reels font inspired by singer Rosalía’s handwriting, and Spotify integration in Notes, making it easier to connect through music.
To further nurture talent, Instagram has launched Drafts, an initiative to support emerging creators like Tyrell Hampton and Young Emperors. The program will offer funding, collaboration opportunities, and mentorship to help them bring their ideas to life.
At the heart of it all, Mosseri says, is the belief that creativity thrives when people feel free to take chances. “Just make it, share it, do it anyway,” he writes—a message Instagram is now turning into action.
