Ever imagined a band without real singers, real instruments or even a live performance? In the world of artificial intelligence, things that once seemed impossible are quickly becoming reality. Enter Trilok, India’s first AI-powered spiritual rock band.
Launched by Collective Media Network, Trilok is a digital music act made entirely with AI. Everything from the vocals and lyrics to the visuals and stage personas has been created using artificial intelligence. There are no humans performing in the band. Instead, AI tools are used to produce the music and shape the identity of each band member.
What makes Trilok different is the kind of music it makes. The band claims to combine elements of Indian spiritual traditions like chants and devotional mantras with the intensity and emotion of rock music. The result is a unique sound that blends old with new, tradition with tech.
According to Vijay Subramaniam, founder and CEO of Collective Artists Network, the idea behind Trilok came from a personal place. He says it reminded him of his college band days. But the project is also meant to explore how creativity and technology can come together in new ways.
Trilok’s first track, "Achyutam Keshavam", is now available on YouTube, Instagram, and major streaming platforms. It takes a familiar spiritual verse and gives it a high-energy rock twist. Along with the track, stylised video teasers introduce the band’s AI-generated characters, each with its own look, personality and backstory.
Sudeep Lahiri, who heads content and distribution at Collective Media Network, says Trilok is not just a band but a broader storytelling project. The team has created an entire digital world around it, using music, visuals and character-driven content to build a deeper connection with the audience.
Collective’s AI lab has previously worked on virtual personalities, but Trilok marks a bigger experiment in scale and ambition. Unlike AI tools that generate background music, this band is designed to perform, engage, and even spark debate.
Whether Trilok will be accepted as a new musical format or simply seen as an AI curiosity remains to be seen. But one thing is clear. The lines between music, technology and storytelling are starting to blur.
